Welcome to English Class!

Picture
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and working with you to make the year
productive. The class will focus on developing you as a reader and a writer. For this to happen, you need to attend school and work hard.  This website is designed as a tool to help you to be successful.  On it you will find links to classwork and homework and any handouts necessary to complete your work.  Commonly used forms will be included, as well as links to other websites that we will use in the class.
Enough about classroom business... I love teaching English and sharing my love of the subject with you.  I am an avid reader and enjoy both young adult and adult literature.  I also like to  write, and although it is sometimes hard work, the struggle is worth it in the end.  Watching students grow to appreciate writing and taking pride in their finished products is for me the most rewarding part of teaching.  See you in class!

REMINDER: If you are experiencing technical difficulty when trying to access or submit homework, you have the option to write a journal entry instead about your ssr book.  Skipping homework is not an option!
Exception: You can not substitute a journal entry for a paper that is due.

Going Green.
In an attempt to reduce waste and cost of using paper in class, we are going
as paperless as possible.  While this is quite a challenge in an English classroom especially, we are going to see what we can do.  This
website should help us in this endeavor, by providing student work online.

Turnitin

Turnitin is a website where you will submit your papers to be sure they are your original work.  It has many other helpful features, a place to peer edit, and a place to view teacher feedback.

Schoology

Schoology is a tool we will be using for informal writing, submitting assignments, and even taking quizzes.  Click here  or use the menu above to go to Schoology.
