Reading quiz on end of book. Finished group work on two poems and discussed them. Started talking about next assignment, "This I Believe Essays." HW: Work on extra reading project: CPA and Honors.
Practiced transitional strategies some more (handout). Talked about last night's reading using journals. Small group work/jigsaw using 2 poems, "Sonnet 73" by William Shakespeare and "The World is Too Much with Us" by William Wordsworth.
Journal: "Take a Line for a Ride." Share entries. Talked about the need for transitions in writing and what that actually means. Presented strategies for transitioning and practiced them. HW: Read TWM according to posted schedule and write 2 dialectical journal posts in response to the reading.
Reading quiz pages 80-129. Talked about dialectic journals. Practiced Awubis comma rule using model sentences. HW: Pages 130-159 with 3 sticky notes.
Wrote in journals about TWM. Worked in library to finish and post. HW: Finish essays and submit via Turnitin. Reading assignment for tonight is combined with Friday's reading so you should be on page 129 by the beginning of the period.
Worked on study guide for Tuesdays with Morrie. Worked in library on literary analysis papers. HW: Look at reading schedule. Essay deadline extended to beginning of class on Friday.

New Reading Schedule for Tuesdays with Morrie. Plan accordingly! In class we worked on composing topic sentences with an organizing element and a connection to the thesis. Talked about new book and watched a film clip on ALS.
Gathered evidence for literary analysis essays on "The Most Dangerous Game." Then conducted a Socratic seminar discussion on the story. HW: Honor and CPA: Work on independent reading and journaling.
