In class revisions and edits of fact sheet. Blocks D,E, and G also complete exercises (4 pages total-2 links) correcting mistakes in apostrophe use. HW: A & C blocks: Fact sheets due tomorrow. Be sure to use the checklist to be sure you have everything. I need your drafts as well as everything on your checklist. DEG blocks: Your papers are due on Wednesday. Please plan to stay for extra help on Tuesday if you need to catch up or need computers.
Last day in lab for research and writing of fact sheets. Don't forget to include works cited page properly formatted and the process letter. Here is a clearer copy of the rubric for this project. HW: Make sure you have a draft of your paper printed for revision and editing in class on Monday. We will not be in the lab on Monday. More time in lab for research and planning of fact sheets. Don't forget you need 5-8 sections, a graphic element, and a properly formatted works cited page with at least one citation--no Wikipedia! I recommend that you use Easybib site for this. If you set up an account, you can access it anywhere. HW: Work on fact sheets. Only 1 more day in lab and it's due next Tuesday.

Quick reading quiz. Small group discussion using journals as a launching point. Small group analysis of poem "Richard Corey." HW: Connect the poem "Richard Corey" by Edwin Arlington Robinson to the book Freak the Mighty. Then, talk about a time when you judged a person by his or her appearance and were wrong--or right! 3/4 page total please. Have a nice weekend!
Took quiz on reading chapters 19-22 in Freak the Mighty. Finished chart on writing purposes. HW: Finish Freak the Mighty and write a one page journal entry about the book. You don't need quotes this time. Make sure you date it, and then write a response. The response can include: parts you liked/disliked, what you think the author did well, connections to yourself or other things you have read or heard about on the radio or television...
Reviewed homework on connotation. Continued discussion on Freak the Mighty started yesterday. Passed out new writing assignment: the Fact Sheet due September 30th. Discussed writing for a purpose. Chose a topic from writing territories list and began looking how to write about a topic with different purposes in mind. Started filling in chart with ideas. HW: Read Freak the Mighty chapters 19-22.
