Today we completed a 10 minute/10 line timed writing to summarize the short story "The Great Rat Hunt" and check whether they read the story. It will count as a quiz. Frequent reading checks such as this will occur throughout the year to ensure that students are reading so they can participate fully in classroom disucssions. Then we reviewed some literary terms (see attached powerpoint) and broke into small groups to analyze the story. .Link to HW: Study for vocabulary quiz on "The Great Rat Hunt." Today we looked at my new website which is now connected to the Tantasqua page. It's a good place to go to check this blog and find links to Edmodo and Jupiter. We also discussed how you can check for missing work in Jupiter. We then listened to more journal entries on a memory and discussed how you can (and should) change your topic if you are not happy with it, before beginning your memoir assignment next week. Then we started " The Great Rat Hunt." by Lawrence Yep. HW: Finish story "The Great Rat Hunt" by Lawrence Yep. You can google it or find a link to it on Edmodo. Hopefully, online textbooks will be available soon!
Today we spent 20 minutes finishing our summer writing assessments, and the remaining 20 sharing journal entries from the first week of school where we told a story about a memory. HW: Finish writing assessment at home (Don't lose it!) and sign your plaigarism contract and have your parents sign it too.
